What you're buying

Every relief map is custom made to order from the route data you provide and the design choices you make in the designer; each one is manufactured specifically for you.

Orders, acceptance, and cancellation

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to place an order. Placing an order is an offer to buy; the order is accepted when we confirm it by email after payment. We may decline or cancel an order for reasons such as route data that cannot produce a printable model, a pricing or technical error, engraving text that is unlawful, infringes someone's rights, or is hateful or abusive, or suspected fraud. If we cancel, we will refund you in full. You may cancel your own order for free within 48 hours of placing it, provided printing has not yet started; to do so, email us as soon as possible and we will refund you in full. Once printing has begun (often within a day of your order) we can no longer cancel it, because each map is made to order. If you are not satisfied after your map arrives, our 30-day money-back guarantee below still applies.

Payment

Payment is processed by Stripe at checkout, including applicable sales tax calculated by Stripe Tax. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers.

Shipping

We currently ship to addresses in the United States. Most orders ship within a week. If your order is delayed beyond that, we will email you with a revised date and the option to cancel for a full refund, even if printing has already begun; this is an exception to the cancellation policy above.

Returns, replacements, and refunds

If your map arrives damaged or defective, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we will replace it or refund you in full, whichever you prefer. Please include your order number and a photo of the problem.

We also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee: if you are not satisfied with your map for any reason, email us first to confirm the return, then ship it back within 30 days of delivery. We will refund what you paid minus the original shipping, to your original payment method; return shipping is at your cost. The printed map is made from the same geometry as the 3D preview you approve, at the same or finer detail: what you see is what we make. If the finished map is not what you hoped for, this guarantee has you covered.

Your route data

You keep ownership of the route data you provide. By providing route data, you represent that you have the right to use it, and you grant us a license to process, store, and manufacture from it to provide and improve the Service: generating previews, producing your map, fulfilling your order, operating the share page that comes with your order (what a share page shows and who can see it), and analyzing routes and design sessions internally to guide product decisions. We may photograph finished pieces for our gallery and marketing materials, never with your name or any other personal details; if you would rather your piece not appear, email us and we will leave it out. Beyond that, we claim no rights in your routes: we never publish or sell them, and we do not use them for anything else.

If you save a design for later, we keep it so you can pick it back up; a saved design left unused for an extended period may be deleted.

Acceptable use

Don't provide data or engraving text you don't have the right to use, attempt to disrupt or overload the Service, or use the Service for anything unlawful.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." Terrain models are generated from public elevation datasets and your route data, and are decorative objects, not survey-grade or navigational products. While we work hard to make every map well, we do not promise that the Service will always be available or error-free. Any implied warranties on your map last only as long as the 30-day guarantee period above; some states do not allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limit may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits warranty or consumer-protection rights that the law does not allow us to limit.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from an order or from use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. This limitation does not apply where the law does not allow it.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Jackson County, Missouri, and you and Trace & Terrain consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section deprives you of consumer protections you are entitled to under the laws of the place where you live, or of your right to bring a claim in small-claims court.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes apply from the effective date shown at the top of this page and do not affect orders already placed. The current version will always be available at this address.

General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Trace & Terrain regarding the Service, and supersede any prior agreements or understandings. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. If we do not enforce a provision of these Terms, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business.
